Week 4 Research and Opinion Paper2
2.3
With
the rise of digital technology many consumers wonder about the end of
the 35mm camera. Although the traditional 35mm camera has nearly
trickled out of mainstream commercial markets it is still very present.
Even
with the convenience and ease of digital cameras, many consumers argue
that it is “fake” photography, that in the “digital” process all art and
skill have been drained. With newer more innovative digital cameras and
software anyone could be a “professional” photographer.
Newer
more innovative digital cameras have high power zooms, Hugh memory
capacities, stabilization features, high resolutions, red eye
minimization, etc… all the consumer has to do is point and shoot. And
if for any reason a flaw appears in the picture there are hundreds of
software programs that the consumer can buy to correct millions of
defects all before printing the photo.
However
many photographers still prefer the control they get from the
traditional 35mm camera, and many hobbyist still enjoy the art and craft
of developing their own film in solutions and dark rooms. Many
traditional photographers still believe that the beauty is in the flaws.
So for now there still remains a spot for 35mm cameras.
